Routeless wood blinds (called Delight by Hunter Douglas, No-Holes by Bali, and LightMaster by Levolor) are made without route holes in the slats. Standard blinds have small holes in the slat, which the ladder strings of a blind run through. Routeless blinds have small notches in the BACK SIDE of each slat which replace the route holes. This allows the blind to seal more tightly, eliminates excess light that can sometimes leak through the route holes and provides a darker room.
Because the strings run though the back of the blind and are held in place by notches, wood blinds with the routeless privacy option are MUCH easier to clean and maintain on an-ongoing basis. However, since slats can be removed more easily, this option is not recommended for households with young children.
