Before the shooting we installed economy wood blinds to replace the old plastic venetians in the dining salon. The blinds look and function so well, that we were inspired to improve the area around the blinds with faux wood painting to help show the blinds off. Considering the ease of installation, along with the well thought out packaging as well as the blinds fit and finish, the value of the economy blinds is exceptional." The only problem I had was attaching the returns to the valances (I did an "outside the window" installation). The channels that were supposed to accommodate the L fasteners were too small. I sort of chiseled them out, but the wood still split a bit on both ends of every valance (I ordered blinds for three windows)." I purchased over $1000 for my new house and I have not a bit of regret. One thing that I do want to complain about and I do hope somebody from blinds.com can read to improve is the valance cover clips are way TOO tight for the valance cover. I couldn't just snap the valacne cover into the clips and had to use a flat-head screw driver to pry the clips open a bit, this left dents on all my valance covers. Otherwise, it would be five stars!" Pull-cords for adjusting blind angle are better than a solid rod, and the break-away design of the cord used for raising the blinds is a brilliant way to preserve both functionality and safety. Cons: 1) The mounting brackets are a bit tricky to attach on the inside of a window frame--it's impossible to drill holes squarely due to the angle. That's not such a big deal. However, if the brackets are mounted to the top inside of the frame, the hinged cover is difficult to open fully. This makes it tricky to insert the blinds into the mounting brackets. Tricky, but not impossible. 2) The plastic clips used to mount the decorative trim to the front of the blinds work fine, but have a couple issues. First, they are visible after mounting, and somewhat ruin the attempt at improving aesthetics. Second, you must mount the trim to the blinds before you insert the blinds into the mounting brackets, and given the trickiness of doing so (see Con #1), we decided it just wasn't worth it. Once we got over the minor hurdles in installation, everything is fine. The blinds look great and function without any issues so far."
