They do a decent job blocking out the light - much better than normal shades but not quite as good as blackout curtains. We use them with thermal curtains and the combination keeps our bedroom with a large west-facing window fairly cool in very hot weather." I hoped the color would be o.k. The translation from a visual to a reality can vary alot. And then there is the problem of ease of installation or dis-ease. The color turned out to ber perfect and my husband has said several times that the ease of installating these blinds indicated that all the negative possibilities had been worked out. In other words, installing the blinds went very smoothly. We are very pleased with this product." I didn't receive the brackets to secure the blinds to bottom of the window sill, however.
