Designed with long-term performance in mind, the Norman Wood Plantation Shutters start with select basswood and other hardwoods available. Each shutter is then crafted by hand and given a smooth finish producing brilliant surfaces that emphasize soft central shades. The compact wood grain provides for long lasting durability and the lighter wood allows for flexibility in panel sizes. This Premium Shutter, which is fine-furniture for your window, is available in inside (L-Frame or Z-frame; see gallery for image of Z-Frame) or outside mount, 1-7/8", 2-1/2" or 3-1/2" louvers.

The panels also install easily, with no on site miter cuts or installation of extra parts.

Touch-up paint or stain is also included for do-it-yourself paint repair for minor scratches. Impressive quality with a Lifetime Warranty. Overall benefits:

  • Lifetime Limited Warranty.
  • Treated with Prescription Wood Conditioning to reduce post-installation swelling and shrinking.
  • Employs mortise and tenon joinery that resists shear and racking forces endured by shutters to ensure prolonged quality and durability.
  • Custom-made and delivered to your house in 6 to 7 weeks.
  • Easy installation with the pre-installed magnets and hinges, as well as pre-mitered frames and slotted keyholes.
  • A labor-intensive hand finishing process that involves multiple sandings and coatings with fine layers of stain or paint.

We've made ordering window shutters as easy as can be.

This product complies with CPSC child safety guidelines. If you have children in your home on a regular basis, CPSC recommends the use of cordless window coverings.

Good but few issuesLook good, factory cuts were accurate, basic assembly was reasonably easy. No instructions included (??) nor list of what should be in the box. Fine tuning may not be that intuitive for a novice. Most importantly, i could not find any instructions for my frame type anywhere on blinds.com. I did pulled a great set of Norman instructions off of a competitor's site that was step by step with pictures. One issue: One of the frame sets was damaged. One frame was banged and looked like a side was dragged, with heavily scraped paint as if it was run along a table edge. There was no indication from the packaging, so it must have happened at the factory or somewhere else internally. After almost 2 months of waiting, we will just live with it - but this was disappointing. The other two sets of shutters were not damaged, and the finish was good.Another Issue: We paid for predrilled holes, which IMHO is worth the 5% charge, but they forgot to drill one of the frame sides. A little frustrating.Overall, the blinds are nice and the cuts were spot on, but i guess @ over $400 per shutter i was expecting the experience to be a little smoother than the long wait with nervous ending. We are happy, but very undecided if we take the risk again for the remainder of our windows.September 17, 2012
Worried about buying sight unseen?I was worried to say the least about ordering these site unseen especially stained products! I was also concerned with measureing the windows and installing them after some of the reviews I read. I worried for nothing the shutters fit like a glove and look and operated great! The stain I chose is old teak with one of the optional trims. Instalation was a breeze. I ordered them predrilled and unless you are only two years old you can install these after just watching the videos online. I didnt print the instructions and did it in about 30 minutes from start to finsih. They arrive next day after they have been made and are packaged extreamly well. These sutters look great and they BLOCK LIGHT these pictures were taken in daylight.I had to use flash in one just to show the shutters. The wood is smooth to the touch not rough or pitted. They are expensive but worth it and a fraction of what another company wanted to charge me for custom fit shutters that were not as nice. I do wish they would not charge you for predrilling they should just do this for the customer, all screws were included so no trip to the hardware store. These can take a while to get ( they have to be made and stained) so if you need them before company comes or a big party order EARLY. I have a couple more picks but the system only allow two.April 22, 2012
Very Hard Wood and Great Looking Too!I ordered 3 shutters, Z frame, for my bedroom and one for the sitting area, L frame. I can really appreciate the pre-labeling and delivery of the order by room. With an entire pallet of boxes delivered at my door step this was relatively easy to organize and determine if my order was shipped correctly. My builder helped me install the blinds and he was amazed at how nice they looked and the price that I paid for them. It took us about an hour to install 4 shutters.April 15, 2008
PerfectOrder arrived one week earlier than expected. Installation was the easiest thing I've ever done, took about 30 minutes including unpacking. The shutters look great and function perfectly. I have three windows in this room, and only bought one so that I could try it out - I'm about to buy the two others.April 22, 2008
Exceeded ExpectationsWe ordered (2) pairs of the premium plantation shutters and finally had them installed this past weekend and are extremely happy with the product. It's extremely high quality wood. My contractor even commented at the quality and said the paint job was so smooth and even that it appeared baked on. They look great. Operate smoothly. Nice fitting. Everything about the shutters are just perfect. Before we purchased these from blinds.com, we did our homework. We researched S.F. Shutter Company and the price was more than double. We checked out the local Home Depot and Lowes and the price just couldn't be beat. blinds.com gave us the opportunity to obtain premium wood plantation shutters for much less than anywhere else. While we were a bit skeptical and worried about overall quality, fit and finish, we can say our expectations have been exceeded. Thank you blinds.com!March 23, 2010
There was not an inventory list in the package. There were no written instructions in the package. The on-line video was helpful, but we did not have the same supplies as the video. We had to get screws form the hardware store to install the blinds.December 28, 2008
The best quality I have seenI have friends who have ordered from other stores, and when I told them I was ordering mine online they thought I was crazy. Now I am the one laughing, because not only where they simple to install and did not require the expensive installtion, they are much nicer quality and half the price. I plan to order more for house I am remodeling.January 12, 2007
blindsThere were no instructions included with the blinds. The video tape that is provided does not pertain to the supplies that I received. They were very difficult to install. I also was promised a power screw driver with my purchase that I never received. I would not recommend this product.June 19, 2009
Everything but the installation! The blinds look great. I started the installation and my husband finished the job. It would have been easy, except I couldn't get the screws in because of metal flashing around the windows - even the electric screwdriver was groaning! Measurements were perfect, product quality was excellent, certainly well worth the frustration during installation.November 27, 2006
very happySo far I have covered 4 windows. One with wood blinds and three with wood shutters. There were no instructions for the shutters and the online instructions did not apply but I was able to figure it out without much problem. Now that I see how great they look I am ready to order more.December 12, 2008
Very nice appearanceI ordered this and installed it myself. It was fairly easy to install by following the instructions at Blinds.com. It looks great in my kitchen giving a rich look. The quality of manufacture is great. The only flaw I found was that the magnetic catch on the frame was attached to the wrong side, which was easy to fix. The wood of the frame is a bit soft and light but no complaints. Overall a good buy for the price.January 13, 2014
Excellent quality productVery happy with the recent purchase of the premium wood plantation shutter. Have renovated a 100+ year old home with lots of english brown oak trim. Shutters match very well with the color and look great. The quality is excellent. Blinds.com was easy to work with. Instructions for ordering made the purchase process simple. I would highly recommend.February 14, 2008
Quality and Value!Purchased these on line because plantation shutters are very expensive and we had some that our boys played with and damaged. What a relief that they were high quality, esp. for the great price! Just a little difficult to install, but maybe not for a more experienced pro.April 1, 2008
Great ShutterWe purchased the white, real wood plantation shutter that has since been discountinued. I hear a replacement is very similar. The shutters black out our bedroom and is a great insulator. They have held up well, look nice and were easy to install.March 31, 2008
The install was a piece of cake. The one thing that could have made it perfect is a pre drill of screw holes in the light bars. But I'm splittin' hairs. I'm a pertty happy camper.August 20, 2009
right place to shopAfter comparing Homedepot prices and selection, I found Blinds.com to be a pleasure to work with. Their selection and staff made the purchase very easy and fast.November 22, 2008
