Blue and Gold Mid Century Kitchen gets Perfect Topper with Roman Shades

Rachael Sneed | 09 Nov 2015 | Home Tours

Nothing is better than a room with perfect lighting. Brittany of Brittany Makes completely remodeled her kitchen, knocking down a wall to make the space more open and let in lots more light. The new mid century aesthetic is breathtaking and her Blinds.com Designer Roman Shades are the perfect finishing touch.

Brittany is an accountant by day and a creative home décor blogger by night. Because she crunches numbers all day, blogging became her creative outlet away from work. Her blog shows her readers the do's-and-don'ts of complex décor projects, easy DIYs and how to bring personal flair to your home.

The Makeover

Because a wall was torn down in the kitchen and the room now had several more windows, privacy became an important concern. The color scheme and theme of the makeover was important as well. Brittany wanted a navy to match her custom cabinet color.

Before and After BrittanyMakes

Blinds.com Designer Kelly sent her plenty of fabric samples to give her the right idea of which texture and color would match her theme.

Kelly suggested the Blinds.com Designer Roman Shades because they offer privacy, but still let in a little light. For lots of light, the shades can be raised and turned into a stylish valance.

Brittany Says:

I really lucked out with those roman shades. They match the cabinet color perfectly!

Brittany chose the color Camden Dark Storm to match the color of her cabinets. Although the color is a dark, navy blue, it doesn't make the room too dark when the roman shades are lowered.

Brittany chose the flat folded style of shades which gives her window a crisp, clean look when the shades are fully lowered, and less bulk when they're raised. To learn more about Roman Shade fold options, check out our blog post, Roman Shade Fold Styles - Find the One That's Right For You!
