Coolaroo shades are known worldwide for keeping patios cool and comfortable without blocking the breeze. The Australian based company developed it’s high tech sun-blocking fabrics out of necessity. The sun-drenched country needed protection from light and heat.
Coolaroo fabric is made with a combination of monofilament and polymer tape yarns that are patterned in a unique weave. The revolutionary design blocks heat and UV rays while allowing cooling breezes to pass through easily. These materials have been shown to make indoor and outdoor spaces up to 32% cooler.
Coolaroo fabric is made from durable exterior grade materials that were designed to withstand the extreme weather conditions of the outback. Even with wind and rain, it’s engineered to resist tearing, fraying, and rotting.
Coolaroo Exterior Sun Shades will keep patios, gazebos and porches comfortable all season long. They can also bring much needed privacy and protection against wind and rain. Base straps securely anchor the shade and prevent it from swaying in the wind.
If you love the clean unobstructed look of your interior windows, but need glare control, outdoor shades might be right for you. This option is especially popular for covering several windows at once or sliding glass doors.
Exterior shades will block heat to give you big savings on energy costs, along with protecting furniture and family from UV damage. The fabric breathes so that hot air won’t get trapped in between the shade and window. Interior shades can hold in heat that eventually radiates into your room.
The first and most exciting part for the shopping process is choosing a color. Coolaroo fabric is available in varying opennesses, so that you can choose the balance between light control and clear view that’s right for you.

When you measure for your shades, follow these instructions to find your height and width. Be aware that the factory will make the fabric 2 1/2″ narrower than the width measurement to allow for the hardware. If you are mounting your shade outside of a window frame, add 2 1/2″ to your width to get full coverage.
