Creative Gift Wrapping Ideas for Christmas:
Find out just how easy it is to make this year’s presents pop with heat embossed wrapping paper and DIY paper bows.
What You Need:
Scrapbook Paper (double sided preferred)
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Kraft Paper or Butcher Paper
Holiday Stamps
Embossing Powder
Clear Embossing Ink
Embossing Heat Tool
How To Make Embossed Wrapping Paper:
1. Wrap gifts with kraft paper.
2. Moisten stamp with embossing ink and press firmly on the area you’d like to emboss.
3. Completely cover the stamped area with embossing powder.
4. Shake off excess powder onto newspaper or scrap paper so that it can be funneled back into the jar and reused. Your design should be left behind and covered with embossing powder. If a few spots are left blank, re-coat with power and shake off again.
5. Apply heat with the embossing heat gun for about a minute. Stop when the entire design has darkened slightly. The heat causes the powder to melt slightly and permanently adhere to the paper, leaving a raised design.
How to Make Paper Bows for Christmas Gifts:
1. Cut pieces of scrapbook paper 1-2 inches wide and at 3 lengths: 7 inches, 10 inches, and 11 inches. We used a paper cutter with a sliding blade like this one.
2. Cut wedges out of each end of the 7 inch strip.
3. Hot glue the ends of the 10 inch strip together to create a loop. Repeat with the 11 inch strip.
4. Squeeze the loops in half (don’t crease!) and glue together.
5. Glue the two loops together (smaller on top) and glue the whole thing to the 7 inch strip.
6. Wrap a 4-5 inch strip around the center of the bow and glue on the back. Use the opposite side of the paper for a contrasting look.
7. Glue or tape the completed bow on top of the present – You’re Done!
