Do you remember when we told you about Shannon, who’s ditching her crummy plastic blinds?
After some blood, sweat and tears to get her nearly 100 year old house looking shiny and new, Shannon was ready to outfit her windows with gorgeous Norman Woodlore Shutters.
But…there was a problem.
Windows Gone Weird
Old houses are full of quirky surprises and Shannon’s ornately framed windows were no exception. Each one was outfitted with three layers of stair step molding. It was pretty, but left her with hardly any room to mount window coverings.
DIY Window Hack
Shannon and her husband weren’t going to let weird windows crush their plantation shutter dreams. They whipped out the nail gun, wood glue, and sand paper to level out the molding and get the depth they needed.
Since Shannon ordered her shutters from Blinds.com, they were custom made to fit the new window size.
Head over to Fox Hollow Cottage to see the step-by-step instructions. With Shannon’s pictures and tips this project is surprisingly easy, even for a DIY newbie.
Keep your eyes peeled for the big shutter reveal coming soon!
