New Year Home Decorating Trends 2013

Beaucoups of designers are making predictions for interior design trends of 2013. We’re design junkies, and so we couldn’t help sharing some of the best trend forecasts we’ve come across over the past few days.

1. Brass is Back!

Guest blogger Julie Thigpen on TP Design has predicted that the warm golden finish will be popping up more and more in 2013. She says, “Brass has definitely become a favorite metal of mine and I especially love mixing it with other metallic finishes like brushed nickel and silver.”

Brass home accents are back for 2013.

Erica Islas, also from TP Design, predicts that we will see a lot more USB integration in 2013. This product is surprisingly affordable (about $30) and can be easily installed with your existing outlet wiring.

3. Don’t Knock Taupe

New Neutrals for 2013

Many of us resolve to bring more bold color into our home decor, but neutrals can look just as intentional and refreshing when styled right. Thankfully Austin, TX designer Jennifer Ott has brought us these fresh new neutrals for 2013.

This deep taupe may seem tame in the swatch, but it makes a bold statement against the cream molding and cabinetry.

4. Go Global

The world is shrinking as we become more globally connected via social media and the internet and home interiors have begun to reflect this international influence. Eclectic and collected interiors are becoming more prevalent with the advent of sites like One Kings Lane and 1stdibs that carry one-of-a-kind home accessories.
