Nostalgic Wood Blinds Take Mountain Inn Back to 1930s Roots

The Maxwell Inn is nestled among the rocky mountains in Estes Park, Colorado, the premier destination for those visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park. Just two hours from Denver, Estes Park is the perfect weekend getaway with boutique shopping, charming local restaurants, and outdoor activities like the Scottish Highland Festival in the Fall.

The Maxwell Inn

The beautiful structure that has been refurbished over the last few months to become The Maxwell Inn. It was originally constructed as a private home in the 1930s before it was expanded to become a dentist’s office, then the ‘Trapper’s Motor Lodge’ in the 1970s.

This sterile, simplistic incarnation of the property lasted 30 years, until Peter and Dana Maxwell snatched it up in February 2013 and have been working to restore the Inn to it’s original 1930s glory. They have taken the Inn’s historical roots and blended them with modern touches like a warm color palette and custom made furniture, for a coziness that can’t be found in corporate chains.

The couple added craftsman-style finishes throughout the hotel such as knotty alder doors, custom cabinetry, handmade furniture and premium wood blinds with nostalgic fabric tape, all of which give it an authentic period feel.

Here’s what Peter and Dana had to say about their experience with Blinds.com:

“The entire experience was wonderful.  There were a few hiccups with our order, however your staff mitigated each and every issue very quickly, which made it a very seamless process.  EVERY SINGLE REP that we worked with was outstanding, no lie.  I can’t tell you how much we appreciated that level of support during the hectic process of bringing this project together.

“We went with Blinds.com and couldn’t be happier.”

We went with Blinds.com after reading several outstanding reviews, and couldn’t be happier that we did – both with the fit and finish of the product as well as the customer service that we received throughout the entire experience.

In fact, we recently had Ambassadors from the Visitors Bureau tour our Inn and one of the first observations was of the outstanding fit and finish of the blinds and how well they complimented our other material and color choices.”

Peter and Dana chose the Blinds.com Brand 2″ Deluxe Wood Blinds in Mocha with optional cloth tapes in Variegated Taupe. They blend perfectly with the 1930s decor in the rooms that were a part of the original home, while giving the rest of the property a classic mountain coziness. Recreate this look if you’re restoring a craftsman home, or are going for a vintage eclectic vibe.  Of course, traditional braided cords are available for a more classic feel. Choose from a variety of stains and paint to find the perfect match for your decor.
