Designing on a Shoestring with Goodwill Glam

Goodwill Glam is a blog we’ve recently discovered that proves how well one can decorate without spending a fortune. The blog is full of tips and tricks for making your home look expensive when it’s really not (isn’t that what we all hope for?)

The 3 Posts You’ve GOT to See

1. The Goodwill Glam Living & Dining Room

As far as credentials go, as soon as I saw this living room I knew that Goodwill Glam could be trusted. Anyone who creates a space as stylish as this one while on a budget gets some serious kudos in my book. The room has the perfect mix of eclectic pieces and I love the combination of black furniture with more colorful accents like the yellow pillows and pink floral centerpieces.

2. Roadkill Desk: Before & After

After looking for a desk for a few months, the universe gifted Goodwill Glam with this curbside-abandoned desk. It definitely didn’t look like much but you’d be surprised at what a transformation it underwent.

After cleaning, scrubbing, and scraping the desk over, it was painted with a coat of primer. Next Krista from Goodwill Glam taped off a Greek key pattern and painted over the desk with a gorgeous coral color. She added the brass drawer pulls as a finishing touch and I must say the desk looks amazing. By revamping the desk herself, she was able to create a truly unique piece.

3. Goodwill Chair Makeover

As Goodwill Glam puts it, this chair started out as nothing special. It was a find from the Goodwill store for only $3.99 – but Krista had a vision…to turn it into something MUCH better!

Krista cleverly purchased a sample swatch of the fabric for the seat for only $5. She sanded the whole chair down, painted it white, and then painted the bottoms of the legs gold creating a very custom, dipped style.
